Little Room Illustrations

Hi, I’m Sarah Cooper. Nice to meet you.

I am an illustrator based in Armidale, NSW, Australia.

I enjoy experimenting with different styles, though my most used mediums are digital, gouache and watercolour.

My work often has elements of humour to it, probably influenced by Footrot Flats, Simon’s cat and all of the kids books that have something funny for the grown ups to enjoy as well. I’m Australian, and live in a rural area, so the bush sneaks in too.

All my spare minutes are spent in the little room (my studio) which is where the business name came from. Yes, my scribbling is a business now!

I am also married to an Anglican minister, and for the last ten years or so have been working alongside him in country towns of various sizes.

I love churches, the people in them and the bush. My series ‘Diary of a Ministry Wife’ is loosely about that role. It isn’t just my diary (that would be really boring!) but from that perspective in general.

One of my long term goals to to illustrate for books and magazines, maybe even my own children’s picture book. However, I do love the work I am doing already so I may just keep doing this.
